Thank you Montagu’s Mews for an amazing birthday dinner for my partner. The service and ambience were top notch and the food was absolutely next level in terms of creativity, presentation and deliciousness! We both found our choices absolutely sublime. Yes portion sizes are small as this is fine dining but the food is so rich that you do need the sizes to be any bigger. And we got a couple of sides to share including the delicious creamed potato. We did not leave hungry at all. The bar is lovely to have pre or post dinner drinks in. All round fantastic experience at this top hotel restaurant. As locals in Bath it was a pleasure to dine here after many years of living here.

Superb food on the dinner menu with fantastic flavours. And the staff and atmosphere were just as good. Thoroughly recommended. Not cheap – but this is very serious food.

The portion sizes let's this place down. Great setting, service was excellent, tasty cocktails and food tasty except I needed more on our plates for the main. We visited for our 10th anniversary. Starters were good but mains (lamb and venison) were two 3x2 cm pieces of meat each. If that was 30g of meat I'd be surprised. At around £40 per main I left feeling a bit robbed and that's coming from London. Dinner and drinks were over£300 which I expected but didn't expect to leave hungry

Ridiculously over-priced. £28.50 (plus service) at lunchtime for a tiny piece of fish drowning in a mediocre tomato soup with a few strands of pasta. Never again!

One of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had in the UK. Left nothing to be desired in regards to dining and service.

We had afternoon tea here. It is a lovely venue but did feel like the tables were quite close together and a bit assembly line. Whilst the cakes and sandwiches were nice, I wouldn't say they were quite as nice as other afternoon teas I've had in other places. The service was good but overall lacked the wow factor.

We had a lovely, quiet Afternoon Tea here as part of our spa package. Two very relaxed ladies enjoyed a delicious and filling tea! It was wonderful and the service was too.

Went for afternoon tea
Amazing ambience, setting, and garden view. The sandwiches were freshly made. The scones and brioche buns were warm and tasty. The tea was very good over all.
One issue that I didn’t like was the slow and fragmented service. We were seated by a server, and then 2-3 other servers looked after us. This is confusing as it didn’t seem that we had any specific server and it created confusion on orders sometimes. Instead of enjoying the tea, we were looking around to catch a waiter.
The other issue is discrepancy and lack of clarity on billing. The afternoon tea is advertised as £45 per person and £23.50 per child. I was there with my wife and two kids. They were 14 and 12. No one bothered to ask about their ages and they charged us as 4 adults. I clearly asked the server about that and he said it’s all charged the same. This is not in line with what most if not all places do and is considered dishonest advertising. To make things worse, we were additionally charged and extra £7.5 each because we asked for a second round of sandwiches. Again, the standard afternoon tea is inclusive of extra sandwiches. Even if you want to charge for extra sandwiches, you should make this clear to your customers. The server took the extra charge because he said “he felt generous”. Well, I didn’t feel well about the whole billing experience as I don’t like places with ambiguous billing schemes.

The first building most people usually think of when talking about Bath is The Royal Crescent – so I was thrilled to receive a present of Afternoon Tea in the well-renowned The Royal Crescent Hotel for my birthday. You feel like you’re stepping back into a regency drama as you enter through the doors. You make your way through the impressive hotel and gardens to their restaurant - Montagué's Mews.
We took our seats and were then given a choice of teas or coffees. I went with a ‘Chocolate Brownie Tea’ which was surprisingly delicious – I would highly recommend trying it. You can try a variety of teas or coffees as they offer top-ups throughout the experience.
The main attraction then came shortly afterwards. It featured 3 tiers of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones. Every element of the Afternoon Tea was impeccable, much like the ambience and service. The highlight had to be the Bath Bun, which was a real sugary treat, alongside the Patisserie items. They also offered a free top-up of the Sandwiches which was generous.
We enjoyed a glass of Champagne alongside our Afternoon Tea, and it all felt rather extravagant – but that’s what Afternoon Tea is all about. There was a beautiful outdoor seating area too, which I imagine would be wonderful to enjoy your Afternoon Tea outside if the sun was shining.
Overall, the entire experience was superb and I cannot fault a thing. Every element of the Afternoon Tea was delectable, the service was impeccable and the surroundings were wonderful. If you’re looking for a treat while you’re in Bath – I would highly recommend a visit to The Royal Crescent Hotel for Afternoon Tea at Montagué's Mews.

If you haven’t been here for dinner, met the amazing, brilliant, sharp and incredibly warm, sweet individuals who comprise the staff, the service, the bartenders, YOU ARE MISSING OUT! We had the tasting menu with the Sommelier’s pairing choices and we were blown away. Some of the reviews don’t do it justice. This chef and his staff are at the top of their game! Ieuan provided incredible service.

The only thing that let this down was there is NO savoury tea and we didn't know until we got here. It was a birthday present so was very disappointed as the birthday girl does not like scones, jam and cream!

Montagu's Mews' tasting menu was a culinary delight, but the star of the show was our waiter, Oliver. His recommendations for exploring Bath were spot-on, and his attentiveness made our evening truly special. He went above and beyond, exceeding all expectations for five-star service. We can't thank him enough for making our experience unforgettable!

We booked a tasting menu dinner to celebrate our wedding weekend.
We had some cocktails at the bar before our dinner - very basic, lacked complexity and I could have made better at home.
Food was ok however our evening, was tainted by a really poor experience with their ‘sommelier’ who struggled to recommend wine to go with the tasting menu. Not sure how that happens as the tasting menu normally remains the same for several weeks so surely someone must have asked this question before? One of the wines he suggested was the worst possible pairing to go with the menu and unfortunately, for the first time in our life, we had to ask for a different wine. He then took 10mins to bring out another wine which he said we couldn’t taste as it was a screw cap bottle. We then had to wait another 10min for him to bring a 3rd wine which we chose ourselves. All together our wine took over 30mins, it was the most awkward and unpleasant start to our dinner. The food waiter had brought out 2 courses by the time the wine came out and was surprised himself as to how long the wine waiter was taking.
When booking, we’d mentioned that we got married the day before so it was a special occasion. There were no special touches added throughout our experience.
It was extremely disappointing and we will not be returning nor recommending.
Big let down, especially since the Royal Crescent has a reputation to maintain. This place does not do it justice.
We felt extremely disappointed, given the occasion and walked out deflated, regretting having booked it in the first place

My daughter and I enjoyed afternoon tea here as part of a spa package at the hotel. Staff were very friendly and the food and atmosphere were beautiful! Loved the variety of teas as well. The fact that you could also get hot chocolate or coffee was a nice bonus, and they even offered extra sandwiches if needed (we didn't!). Would love to come back on a sunny day and enjoy the terrace option, as the garden is beautiful!

I have been to the hotel restaurant a number of times for afternoon tea. Around 3 years ago the service and food was great. However in the last year I have been several times and the service has been appalling. No one was there to seat you, I had to find a member of staff to take our order as no one came to see us after 15 minutes. It wasn't busy so there were no excuses. Again when it was time to pay I had to get up twice to get the bill and ask for the card machine as we were just left sat there. The service isn't worthy of the location.
So many nicer places in Bath with better food and service.

Atmosphere and service was what you would expect from an establishment like the Royal Crescent Hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon tea. I really appreciated the option of hot chocolate or coffee for non tea drinkers. Scones were served warm and the sandwiches were very fresh and the bread so moist and delicious. Desserts were visually pleasing with a taste to match! When we return to Bath, this place will be our first stop!
